FRIT PATTERNS: A frit is a ceramic applied as a pattern that has been fused into a glass by heating them in smelters and quenching them in water. One of the downfalls to using frit as a bird deterrent is they are typically applied to the second surface of glass, thereby allowing the first surface of glass to have an uninterrupted reflective quality.
Goldray Industries is leading the way in this technology. Their Bird Friendly Glass offers a durable, pigmented glass enamel permanently fused to the first surface (outside surface) of glass.
The below image beautifully captures how a ceramic frit with its assorted white vertical striations can enhance the aesthetic of a building facade.
